Blind Rivets Blind Rivets, also commonly known as Pop Rivets, are fasteners used to permanently join two or more materials when access is available from only one side of the workpiece. They provide a strong, reliable and neat fastening solution without requiring access to the back side of the joint. Description Blind rivets consist of a tubular rivet body and a mandrel (stem). The rivet is inserted through pre-drilled holes in the materials, and a rivet gun pulls the mandrel through the rivet body. This causes the rear portion of the rivet to expand and form a secure locking head, joining the materials together. Common Uses Blind rivets are widely used for: Sheet metal fabrication Automotive body and repair work Electrical panels and enclosures HVAC ducting Roofing and metal work Furniture and appliance assembly Machinery and equipment Sign boards and display fixtures General workshop and maintenance applications Aluminium and light-gauge metal assembly Key Features One-sided installation — ideal where the rear side is inaccessible Fast and easy installation Permanent fastening Strong and dependable joint Suitable for metal, plastic and other sheet materials Clean and professional appearance Available in different sizes and materials Can be installed using a manual, pneumatic or battery-powered rivet gun How to Use Align the materials that need to be joined. Drill a correctly sized hole through the materials. Insert the blind rivet through the hole. Place the rivet mandrel into the rivet gun. Squeeze the rivet gun to pull the mandrel. The rivet body expands on the blind side and clamps the materials together. The mandrel breaks at its designed point, leaving the completed permanent joint. Advantages Blind rivets are especially useful when: You cannot reach the back of the material. You need quick assembly. Welding or bolting is not practical. You want a clean, permanent fastening. You are working with thin sheet materials.
